Is our Future Leaders Programme right for you?
Are you a qualified Level 3 or room leader looking for great career prospects and support to fulfil your potential? 

What is our Future Leaders Programme?
This programme runs in parallel with your induction and will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to take on a leadership role within our nurseries.

During the year, you’ll complete monthly modules within a live virtual classroom, being guided by our tutors to learn alongside your fellow future leaders.

Your progress will be measured through a combination of reflective writing and practical tasks and supported throughout by our dedicated pathways team. 

After completing the course, you’ll benefit from individual career coaching to ensure you can fulfil your career goals and full potential.

The Future Leaders programme has provided me with many new skills such as reflecting on my leadership styles in a different view and how I can adapt in situations to accommodate the needs of the situation.
Throughout the course we complete impact actions reflecting upon each aspect of our cohort. I have recognised the improvements within my setting and my own team and still refer to these to date.
An example of this would be when I learned about the 'Tuckman Stages'. Throughout team working we all go through transitional stages, I often refer to this learning when supporting my team as it is a great tool to encourage reflection and honest communication.
Other room leaders and management take on any pointers I have taken from the course and we look at ways in our practice in which we can use these. I am enjoying being able to use these skills I am learning in my own professional development within my career.

What is the Future Leaders Programme?
The Future Leaders Programme gives you a dedicated pathway to support your leadership and management development while working in our nursery environment.

Who can apply for the Future Leaders Programme?
The Future Leaders Programme is for: 
  • Practitioners who are Level 3 Qualified and aspire to be a Room Leader
  • Room Leaders
  • Room-based Third in Charges

How Long is the Future Leaders Programme?
The Future Leaders Programme provides a 12-month course to be undertaken alongside your day-to-day role. Sessions will be delivered virtually with Future Leaders attending 1-2 modules a month.

What happens after completing the Future Leaders Programme?
Following completion of the Future Leaders Programme, you will be guaranteed a position at Bright Horizons, alongside the opportunity to explore your future career pathway with one of our internal career coaches. This programme equips you with the skills and knowledge to step into your own pathway, ready for when the next opportunity for progression arises. 


How will the Future Leaders Programme be delivered?
All modules are 3 hours and will be taught virtually via Microsoft Teams within your working hours.

What is the Programme Overview of the Future Leaders Programme?
There are 12 modules in the programme. Each module will develop your leadership qualities and equip you with the day-to-day management skills you need to progress your career. Learning modules include:
  • Effective communication
  • Decision making and goal setting
  • Developing positive relationships
  • Overcoming workplace challenges
  • Leading a learning environment for children
  • Developing your leadership style
In addition, Future Leaders will complete the Fundamentals of Coaching Skills (Level 1) and Designated Safeguarding Lead training. 

How will the Future Leaders Programme be assessed?
The Future Leaders Programme will be assessed through a portfolio of collected evidence throughout the programme, including reflective writing and practical tasks.
Future Leaders will also be asked to complete a short presentation at the end of the programme to demonstrate their new knowledge and skills.
