Our Curriculum and Philosophy

At Bright Horizons, We Do What's
Best for Children - It's as Simple as That!

And what’s best for children is usually what’s best for teachers too. We believe that children and teachers need and deserve:

A focus on nurturing and responsive relationships. Children and adults need to feel safe, valued and heard each and every day.
Classroom communities that are playful, joyful, and inclusive. Every teacher, every child, and every family should feel a sense of belonging.
Proven instructional methods. We give teachers science-backed teaching practices to make them the most effective educators they can be.
Classrooms that are organized, beautiful, and peaceful. Materials change frequently and reflect the children and teachers in each classroom.

What Does This Mean for Teachers?

The elements above make up the four foundations of Discovery Driven Learning ®, our proprietary teaching and learning framework. Discovery Driven Learning puts the child first, ensuring their sense of wonder, natural curiosity, rich imaginations, and drive to discover are at the heart of all we do.
  • You won’t find theme-based, canned curriculum here, but instead engaging and rich experiences that are truly meaningful.
  • We're focused on playful discovery and exploration. Teachers spend their days actively playing, exploring, and learning right along with children.
  • Whether you’re new to teaching or an experienced veteran, we offer the training and support you need for a satisfying teaching experience.
  • Our cohesive planning and assessment approach streamlines lesson planning, assessments, documentation, and portfolio development.
  • You'll have autonomy and flexibility within the classroom. We encourage teachers to offer experiences and materials based on the needs of the children in their classroom.

Our Curriculum

Our comprehensive whole-child curriculum — World at Their Fingertips® — ensures rich learning in all domains (physical, social-emotional, cognitive, language, and approaches to learning) and is broken down into elements such as literacy, math, science, character development, wellness, and art.

Infant Teacher

We know that critical development happens in the first months of life. Our curriculum supports healthy brain building, attachment and bonding, language growth, and so much more. As an infant teacher, you will provide experiences and guidance to support the rapid and important development that occurs during the first year. With warm, nurturing teachers like you by their sides, babies learn, explore, and thrive, laying the foundation for the exciting stage of toddlerhood ahead.

Toddler Teacher

Newly mobile toddlers are adventurous explorers, curious about their world and the people in it. They are becoming aware of themselves and others. They begin to ask questions and try to solve problems, laying the foundation for future inquiries, critical thinking, and learning. Our teachers understand the important work toddlers are doing and with you by their side, they have the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.

Preschool Teacher

Children entering preschool are enthusiastic learners, eagerly taking on more challenges. They are ready for important, new opportunities to build friendships and social skills, while developing a stronger sense of self. Our teachers recognize the importance of this journey and offer a carefully designed program to ensure each child is prepared with a love for learning and a solid foundation for tomorrow. You will provide children with the encouragement and guidance they need to expand on established skills in critical areas like reading, writing, STEM, and so much more.

Kindergarten Teacher

Kindergartners are enthusiastic and eager learners. At the crossroads of early education and elementary school, children this age are developmentally ready to handle more abstract concepts. They’re eager to ask questions, increasingly curious about their world, and looking for opportunities to solve problems on their own or with a friend. Our teachers understand the importance of this pivotal year in a child’s education and work to ensure each child is prepared for school.
