We know that early education is about nurturing the whole child. Social and emotional well-being is just as critical as cognitive development, especially in the formative early years. That’s why we’re constantly evolving and introducing new tools to help children, families, and educators thrive.

One of the ways we’re doing this? By bringing mindfulness into the classroom through Inner Explorer , a program designed specifically for preschool and kindergarten prep environments.

Why mindfulness matters—for children and teachers

Children face big feelings, just like adults. Learning how to manage emotions, build resilience, and stay engaged sets the foundation for lifelong success. But these skills aren’t just for children, they benefit educators too. Inner Explorer provides strategies that help teachers reduce stress, create calmer classrooms, and model emotional regulation for their students.

What makes Inner Explorer unique?

Originally launched as a pilot in the Boston area, Inner Explorer quickly demonstrated its impact. Designed for ages 3–5, the program offers 180 daily mindfulness practices, each just five minutes or less.

Sessions begin with a calming chime and feature child-friendly narration, sometimes even in child’s voice.

How we’re bringing it to life

Every preschool classroom has access to Inner Explorer through the My Bright Day app, where educators can track progress with a fun growing tree icon. So far ~75% of classrooms have tried the program, and more than half use it regularly. Our goal for 2026? Three sessions per week in every classroom—a frequency proven to deliver measurable benefits.

The Impact: for children, educators, and families

For children: Improved emotional regulation, stronger classroom engagement, and even independent use of mindfulness techniques—like the “shark fin”—during stressful moments.
For educators: Reduced stress, fewer challenging behaviors, and opportunities to practice mindfulness alongside children during high-stress times like the holidays. Teachers tell us these moments help them feel more grounded and connected to their students.
For families: Visual cards and resources extend mindfulness beyond the classroom. Stories from parents—like a child using deep breathing during a medical emergency—show the real-world power of these practices.

Why teachers love this approach

By incorporating mindfulness into the daily routine, teachers create calmer classrooms, strengthen relationships with children, and experience less burnout. It’s one more way we invests in our educators’ well-being and professional growth.

And now, educators can take mindfulness beyond the classroom. We now provide personal access to the Inner Explorer app, giving teachers the opportunity to practice mindfulness on their own time. Whether it’s a moment of calm before the workday, a reset during stressful seasons, or a tool for personal well‑being at home, this additional access helps educators care for themselves as intentionally as they care for their classrooms.

Looking ahead

We’ll continue expanding Inner Explorer’s reach, sharing success stories, and exploring new ways to support emotional well-being in and out of the classroom. Because we’re not just preparing children for school—we’re preparing them for life. And we’re creating workplaces where teachers feel supported, valued, and inspired every day.
